purpose of this site is to educate the public about
Laser Vision Correction.
A knowledgeable patient can take a more active role
in deciding whether to pursue surgery (after weighing
the risks and benefits), selecting the type of surgery,
and choosing the doctor who will perform the surgery.
Traditionally,
the doctor has had more input into the decision-making
process. The information on this site will
allow a person to ask more informed questions of his
or her doctor, the answers to which will better help
the patient make decisions, and hopefully reinforce
the patient's confidence in the doctor.
This
more balanced dialogue also provides an opportunity
for the doctor to make sure that the patient's expectations
are ones that can be satisfied. The end result, a happy
patient, is the ultimate goal of both the doctor and
