Dr. Yu was born, raised, and educated in the U.S. He is in private practice, though he helps train ophthalmology residents at the Sinai campus of the Detroit Medical Center.

Dr. Yu has had lengthy experience with refractive surgery, first with radial keratotomy, and since 1996, laser vision correction, first with photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and then with LASIK. He keeps current with the latest advances in refractive surgery by attending scientific seminars and visiting other refractive surgeons throughout the country.
